Lucia (loo-cee-uh) Dill (like the pickle) grew up in California and recently settled down in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from California College of the Arts in Oakland/San Francisco with a BFA in painting/drawing. Over the years, she has delved into illustration, embroidery, printmaking, bookmaking, ceramics, and writing. Currently, her studio practice focuses on painting with acrylics, embroidering, and writing.
In her artwork, Lucia Dill translates emotions, experiences, thoughts, and observations into simplified scenes, where folding chairs and other figure-like objects function as unspecific characters. Text, as title or story, conveys further context through ambiguous descriptions, poetic fragments, and questions. Her work has been featured on The Jealous Curator, The Coastal Post, The Nice Niche, and in the literary magazine, Star 82 Review, as well as exhibited in California, Colorado, New Jersey, and Washington.
